Make a Will Month

Join our Make a Will Month campaign to safeguard your family’s future and help support Francis House Children’s Hospice.

During the month of September, you can have a Will written by solicitors partnering in our Make a Will Month scheme.

Participating solicitors, including Bromleys in Ashton Under Lyne, AST Hampsons in Bury, Glaisyers ETL in Manchester, O’Donnell Solicitors in Uppermill, and Wrigley Claydon in Oldham, will provide their services and expertise without charge during the month of September, asking instead for a donation to Francis House.

The legal firms have agreed to give their time to draw up a simple Will or amend an existing Will in return for a suggested donation of £100 for an individual or £175 for a double Will for married couples or partners.

This represents a substantial saving on the standard fees for the service!

Gifts in Wills allows Francis House to provide the very best care to the children, young people and their families.

“We at AST Hampsons are proud to support and collaborate with Francis House in their ‘Make a Will Month‘ campaign. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and help to fund essential care and support to children and young adults with life-limiting conditions.

"By donating to the Hospice, instead of paying us for a basic Will, it will ensure families receive the comfort and assistance they need during what is a difficult time in their lives."

Louise Salisbury, Head of Wills, Probate and Trusts, AST Hampsons

Legacies in Wills left to Francis House Family Trust, are a crucial part of income for the hospice and allow us to provide the very best respite, homecare, end of life care and bereavement support to the children, young people and their families.

If you chose to leave a legacy to Francis House you can be assured that your gift will stand as a lasting reminder of your care and generosity.

Why make a Will?

None of us wants to consider our own mortality, and it’s all too easy to put off making a Will but we owe it to those we love to ensure that they are properly provided for under the terms of a Will. Having a Will in place makes things as easy as possible for them at such an emotionally challenging time.

When it comes to making a Will, your family and friends should come first in your thoughts. But many people also decide to leave a gift in their Will to a charity close to their hearts.

If you’ve been meaning to get round to drawing up your Will, or there’s been a recent change in your circumstances, such as moving house, retirement, divorce, marriage or a new baby, or possibly you’ve become a grandparent for the first time – then ‘Make a Will Month’ during September is the perfect time to make or update your Will.

By making a Will you can ensure that your money and possessions are distributed in accordance with your wishes.

Inheritance Tax

Should your estate exceed a certain value you may be liable to pay Inheritance Tax when you die.

With the surge in property prices, more and more homeowners are now in the Inheritance Tax band.

A gift to a charity can avoid or reduce the amount of Inheritance Tax you may have to pay. A solicitor will be able to provide you with expert advice in this area.

“I received an excellent and highly professional service when writing my Will under the Francis House ‘Make a Will Month’ initiative. It gave me peace of mind knowing that I’d put all the necessary measures in place to protect my family, and provided me with a great opportunity to support Francis House Children’s Hospice at the same time.”
