Francis House Knit Off winners announced

The votes have been counted and we can now reveal the winners in the first ever Francis House Virtual Knit Off contest!

Our Easter knitted chick appeal was one of many events hit hard by Covid-19 restrictions with the sale of Easter chicks being severely impacted by the lockdown. Following the re-opening of the shops we launched the Francis House Knit Off in summer 2020 to invite our supporters and crafters to take part in a virtual contest.

Approximately 80 knitters and crocheters submitted more than 140 fantastic photo entries in the hope of being crowned top of the knits.  All entry fees go towards providing hospice care, thank you to everyone who took part.

Here’s the list of our 2020 winners as voted for by the public…

Abigail said: “I crocheted this dinosaur for my little girl as she wanted a yellow and green triceratops, which we could not find anywhere.”

Angela Farrell with Animals and flowers native to England baby blanket – Most original design

Angela said: “My daughter wanted to make a blanket for her friend’s baby. She could not crochet so I taught her. Her friend works in conservation, so she chose animals and plants native to England and sourced patterns individually online. She made the squares and I did the motives. A joint effort and learning experience we both enjoyed immensely.”

“We were delighted with the number of great entries and well done to our 24 finalists for making it through to the public voting round. Congratulations to Abigail, Pam, Wendy and Angela and thank you to Hobbycraft and Crookilley Crafts for donating the super prizes.

“If you enjoyed taking part or voting in the Knit Off, please consider a further donation to Francis House to help support the vital work of the hospice at this difficult time.”
